Cleansing Prayer

Oh Great Spirit

Speak to me with the voice of your rustling leaves

Bathe me in the purity of your sunlight

Cleanse me with the purity of your rain

Sing to me with the voice of your running waters

Soothe my spirit with birdsong by day

Lullaby me with crickets and frogs by night

Show me your power in your raging storms

Show me your splendor in the variety of all living things

I come into your forest, your sacred temple, with open arms and open heart

Make me One with all living things, as I am a child of the Earth

Melt away my fears, doubts, confusion, and worries

Let me commune with my ancestors and the spirits of the forest

The roots of the tree are my ancestors,

The trunk is my culture and my society,

The branches are my family and our people

The leaves are our descendants

Speak to me, Bathe me, Cleanse me, Sing to me, and make my spirit whole again

Show me the past, root me in the present, and prepare me for tomorrow

Let your power flow through me and make me whole again.

Pride Prayer

As I walk the trail of life

In the fear of the wind and rain,

Grant O Great Spirit,

That I may always walk like a man

Travelers Welcome

I will draw thorns from your feet.

We will walk the Red Road together.

Like di-ga-ne-li, a brother

I will love you.

I will wipe tears from your eyes.

When you are sad,

I will put your aching heart to rest.

Prayer of Thanks

My grandfather is the fire

My grandmother is the wind

The Earth is my mother

The Great Spirit is my father

The World stopped at my birth

and laid itself at my feet

And I shall swallow the Earth whole

when I die and the Earth and I will be one

Hail The Great Spirit, my father

without him no one could exist

because there would be no will to live

Hail The Earth, my mother

without which no food could be grown

and so cause the will to live to starve

Hail the wind, my grandmother

for she brings loving, lifegiving rain

nourishing us as she nourishes our crops

Hail the fire, my grandfather

for the light, the warmth, the comfort he brings

without which we be animals, not men

Hail my parents and grandparents

without which not I

nor you

nor anyone else

could have existed

Life gives life

which gives unto itself

a promise of new life

Hail the Great Spirit, The Earth, the wind, the fire

praise my parents loudly

for they are your parents, too

Oh, Great Spirit, giver of my life

please accept this humble offering of prayer

this offering of praise

this honest reverence of my love for you.
